Today’s Spotlight: “WOW-Wipe Out Wrinkles”

Okay, I know this is a cheesy picture, but I kind of like it.  I was playing with an app on my phone and this is what I ended up with.

IMG_0102 (Edited)

But you get the idea; today’s product spotlight is a product from IT WORKS GLOBAL, called WOW, which stands for Wipe Out Wrinkles, but also, in a pun-y kind of way, for what you will say after you use it.  It starts to work in about 45 seconds, and does just what it says- wipes out, or fades away, wrinkles.  You can literally watch them fade.  It’s very cool if you do it on one side of your face and not the other, for comparison’s sake.

The product’s results, if used only once, will fade, but over time, with continued use, the results become long-term and lasting.  Some of the things it will do:

  • Instantly reduces appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and creases.  (With me, it also helps shrink my large pores so my makeup looks better)
  • Active peptides and proteins boost skin’s firmness and elasticity. (what are peptides, anyway?)
  • Rehydrates skin giving a smooth plumped appearance.
  • Reduces appearance of under-eye puffiness for a brighter looking you. (I am telling you what the site says about it!)
  • Pair with Lip & Eye cream for the ultimate results

Now, when I have used it on myself and other people, I have had the best results if I use moisturizer first, wait about 5 or 10 minutes, and then put the WOW on.  Then wait a few more minutes and put my makeup on.  It only takes a small amount; too much and it can leave a chalky residue.  Seriously, in under 2 minutes you will see results.

You can use this product anywhere on your face that you want to- forehead wrinkles, neck, nose, pout lines, lines around the chin, and under eye area to combat fine lines and puffiness.

I thought this was a cool picture because she used it on half of her face for a comparison. Amazing, huh?

The 6 Stages of Procrastination

Oh so very true!

Artsy Teen

hi-guys
I hope you’ve all had a nice week. Thank you all so much for the great feedback I’ve been getting on my spring posts lately 🙂 . I’ve been working on ‘The 6 Stages of Procrastination’ for quite some time now, and I’m so happy to finally be able to share it with you guys!
I don’t possess many qualifications, if any really. But I think it’s safe to say that were procrastination an Olympic sport  I would have all the gold medals. Or at least, I’d think about getting them. I’d probably have other stuff to do first. I’d get them at some point though. Maybe later…
Seriously though, I hope you guys enjoy it and – if you’re procrastinators like me, let me know if you recognise these stages as well. Or, if you know how to actually be a sane, organised human being please comment down below and…

HOW TO GIVE A CAT A PILL

How to Give a Pill to a Cat

  1. Pick cat up and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat’s mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.
  2. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.
  3. Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.
  4. Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.
  5. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse from garden.
  6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat’s throat vigorously.
  7. Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered Doulton figurines from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.
  8. Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw.
  9. Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink glass of water to take taste away. Apply Band-Aid to spouse’s forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.
  10. Retrieve cat from neighbor’s shed. Get another pill. Place cat in cupboard and close door onto neck to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.
  11. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put door back on hinges. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Throw tee-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.
  12. Call fire department to retrieve cat from tree across the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil-wrap.
  13. Tie cat’s front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy duty pruning gloves from shed, force cat’s mouth open with small wrench. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of filet mignon. Hold head vertically and pour 1/2 litre of water down throat to wash pill down.
  14. Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture store on way home to order new table.

Quick Carrot Cake Recipe

The pictures reeled me in and I just had to make this!

Artsy Teen

hi-guys

I’ve never been one to sleep in, mainly because my lack of social life ensures an early night. However, I’ve always enjoyed an extra hour or so in bed on Sundays, especially when on holidays. So it was a surprise when this morning I woke up unusually early to the sounds of what my sleep-deprived mind imagined to be a battle going on outside my bedroom. As it turns out, it was simply my younger siblings on an enthusiastic Easter egg hunt around my house, their chocolate-fueled excitement apparently making any kind of discretion at 7a.m. impossible.

Luckily, one giant, mint-flavoured, gold foil-wrapped chocolate egg later, my abrupt awakening was forgotten and I officially switched over to Easter-celebration mode. I wanted to share this delicious carrot cake recipe with you guys today, because it’s such an Easter classic! The bright, colourful carrots combined with crunchy pecan nuts, flaky coconut and warm…

“I didn’t get rich in a month…. I KNEW it was a scam!”

So, I’ve seen a lot of negativity about home-based businesses lately, specifically network marketing, sometimes called multilevel marketing.  It’s a little frustrating, and also irks me a little.  Kind of like seeing someone bashing a friend or just bad-mouthing something in general that they really don’t know anything about.  They heard about someone who had a bad experience, or tried it and it didn’t work for them, or just heard the negative talk and ran with it.  I see the phrase “pyramid scheme” being tossed around a lot.  (Those are illegal in the US, by the way)  Face it, sometimes people are just angry and need an outlet.
But I also see A LOT of my friends posting about their businesses, and they are passionate about what they are doing, love the products and the business, and are dreaming of something better for themselves and their families.  It makes me so proud to see them taking that scary leap of faith and GOING FOR IT!  It takes a lot of courage to go against what society considers “normal”.
Yes, unfortunately, some of those businesses are not geared to help you be successful, and some are not legitimate.  But most ARE legitimate companies who have chosen to promote and sell their product in a non-traditional way.  In this way, the company can offer the product to the public without spending millions or even billions of dollars in marketing and ads, instead passing those profits on to their distributors/representatives.  It’s quite genius, if you would think about it.
Instead of listening to the opinions of someone who has had a bad experience, which can happen in ANY business or job, why not do some research?  And yes, you can find just as many biased articles on the web about ANY topic you choose to research.  My advice is to look for legitimate sources who will fairly list the pros and cons of whatever you are looking into.
I have personally tried a few different network marketing companies, and to be quite honest, never had much success….  which is as much my fault as anything.  Network marketing, working from home, being an entrepreneur, whatever you want to call it, takes WORK.  Which a lot of people just aren’t willing to put in.  Being honest, most jump in thinking they will be rich and be able to quit their job in weeks or months.  It doesn’t happen that way.  It IS POSSIBLE to make amazing amounts of money with some of these companies, even quit your job and work from home for the rest of your life… IF you choose the right company, and IF you put the work into it.
Now, that all being said, I have recently joined the ranks of a company called IT WORKS GLOBAL.   Since being part of this amazing, faith-based company, I have seen so many people get out of debt, save their homes from foreclosure, or even fulfill a more modest dream, like being able to pay their utility bills and put food on the table.  I have also seen broke college students go from having to borrow money from their parents for gas, to making more than $10,000 a MONTH.  And yes, I know this person; she graduated high school with my niece and we talk on a regular basis.  These are REAL PEOPLE with real success stories that will make you literally cry when they tell them.
I mean, you COULD work the rest of your life for a company that pays you what they think you are worth, instead of what you think you are worth, or being paid the same no matter how hard you work, knowing you will NEVER rise much higher in the company, and certainly not to the same level as the top income earners in that company…  And you could keep taking financial advice from your broke cousin or your in-over-their-head-in-debt uncle…
Or, you could open your mind to a new way, a different way, and maybe take a leap of faith.  Are you afraid of what your friends and family will say about you?  Are they paying your bills?  Do they give you gas or grocery money when you need it?  Don’t let fear or ignorance control you… There is more, there is something better.
No, network marketing isn’t for everyone.  It takes a special kind of person to see the vision, to be able to ignore the diatribe and being-made-fun-of, to want to put in the WORK it takes.
I would personally rather support a friend or a family member in their business, and buy a product or a service from them, as opposed to going to a big store or company that I know doesn’t really care about me in the long run.  When you shop with a friend, you get personal service, one-on-one attention, and knowing you are getting a superior product or service and at the same time supporting someone’s dream.  You are helping a single parent put food on the table, or buy a gift for their child.  You are helping a family stay home together instead of hardly ever seeing each other.  You may be helping someone save for a new car or put their child in band camp.  You might even be helping someone save their home or car from foreclosure/repossession.
I found an article that I felt was fairly written and very informative.  I hope you’ll take a look at it and keep an open mind.  And maybe the next time you need to buy more makeup, or want some scented candles for your home, or are looking for that perfect gift for someone, you’ll remember that friend who posted about their business on Facebook or Instagram, and give them a call.

A little Tuesday evening musing…

I’ve been on Facebook for a little while tonight. I use social media a lot to boost my business, and I honestly enjoy connecting with people. I literally have friends all over the world.

But there’s something I have noticed this evening… So many people are sad, depressed, or feel as if they really don’t matter. They may not come right out and say it, but it is there, lurking beneath the memes they post, the things they almost say, or the sadness in their eyes showing in the latest selfie they just posted. I can see it in the sarcastic pictures/memes they share, which show a dissatisfaction with life in general, and and in the overall posts they make.

I really try to post positive things on my Facebook page. I enjoy the cute and funny memes, and I like to think that when someone sees something I post, they can see the genuineness of it. I love life, and I think it can be more than an unending cycle of sadness, bitterness or anger. Don’t get me wrong, I was once that girl. I was once the girl who could not see the light, or the joy, or understand those truly happy people. I’ve been there. But what I learned is joy is a condition of the heart that cannot be changed by exterior circumstances, while happiness often depends on what’s going on around you or who is around you.

Well, I really just wanted to say one thing. Show kindness. It does not cost you anything and you gain so much. Make eye contact. Smile at someone. Say “hi” or “hey, I think your skin is so pretty” or even “wow, you have a great smile.” You may be the only kindness that person gets today. It could really make a difference in their life. Really, what do you have to lose? Do you think people will think you’re weird? So what? People probably already do, haha. Personally, I want to stand out.

When I see an old person sitting around on the benches at Walmart, for example, I make it a point to speak to them. Old people are awesome, and sadly, they tend to be invisible in our society. That is a true shame. Some of the coolest people I know are over 70. My aunt Minnie is 84 and she is an absolute hoot. I consider it a privilege to know her. It makes my day to visit her, and some people may think I’m doing a good deed to visit her in the nursing home, but the truth is, she is making MY day.

Well, that’s my random musing for today. I hope it has made you think.

By the way, this is my Aunt Minnie. Doesn’t she have a beautiful smile?

A Saturday morning on the mountain…

Good morning… Well, mid-morning anyway.  I’d love to say that here on the mountain we get up with the sun and GET THINGS DONE. *snort*  There probably are some of the older residents that do, but I can’t think of any.  My husband is down at the neighbor’s house, helping fix my sister’s lawnmower. That is a typical weekend day for him. There are lots of older neighbors he helps, and then there is my mom’s house and my sister’s house, both only about a quarter mile from our house. He often jokes and says he goes back to work on Mondays to get some rest.  I can only smile knowing that he is going to retire in a couple of years and be on call constantly. Before we bought this house, we used to have to drive past everyone else’s house before we got home.  He used to say he wished he could make our car tiptoe past all the houses before ours.

But that is how we are up here on the mountain.  If someones needs help with something, you go help them.  It is a totally different world than the city where I used to live. I have been here about 6 years, and it still amazes me. There’s a lot to be said for small town living.

Anyway, all that being said, while he is at the neighbor’s, working hard, I am supposed to be cleaning the windows in the new house.  (I’m really sitting at my laptop writing this blog entry… Hey, I got ONE window done!)  There are a lot of little things to be done in a new house, and the deep cleaning falls on me.  That’s our arrangement: he handles the maintenance and outdoor work, and I do the cleaning, cooking and indoor things.  Hey, that works out great for us both.  I’m a stay at home wife, and I love it, and he works hard so I can be one.  I am very grateful to him for that. He enjoys coming home to a clean house and a hot supper, and I enjoy the hours during the day all to myself.

I used to worry that when he retires in two years that we would get on each other’s nerves spending so much time around each other, but I don’t worry about that any longer. He will always have plenty of things to do with our house, Mom’s house, sister’s house, a couple of elderly neighbor’s homes, and by then he will have a new work shop, an ATV, and a tractor to play with on my sister’s property (she has 12 acres to mess around on).  And all I have to do is mention that I have been thinking about moving the furniture around, and it’s like he waits for me to turn my back, and he will literally sneak out of the house.  *laugh*  I know how to get him out from under foot. He also knows the trigger phrase “Honey, I’ve been thinking…” that means there is work involved some way for him.

So, there you go. Just a slow Saturday morning, and it’s going to be a peaceful day.

BTW, I want to thank all of you for the likes on my Blog, even though it’s new and still a work in progress. I am still figuring out the WordPress setup, and my site may still look “unfinished” until I can get the customization the way I want it. Have a great day guys, and we’ll talk again.IMG_0006

The benefits of alkalizing your body and the best product I’ve found to do it.

I have been doing a lot of research in this topic, and also working proactively to do it myself. I have seen some amazing results since doing this. I have more energy, and I don’t get sick any more. I can feel the changes in my body.

Our diet as Americans is, unfortunately, mostly acid-forming, or acidic. Your body performs optimally when your pH is slightly alkaline, and when your body is in an alkaline state, most sicknesses and diseases simply cannot live or exist. Your body will try for an alkaline state, and if you are too acidic, it will leech calcium from your bones, for example, to try and achieve the alkaline state. For those athletes out there, you will also see improved performance from alkalizing your body.

Do you just want to feel more energized throughout the day? Would you like to detox your body (especially for those who take lots of medications, which can harm your liver & kidneys) and even be a little more regular in the bathroom? The best thing I have found to do this, instead of a radical diet change, is a product called “Greens.” It is made by a company called It Works. Salsa/Pico de Gallo Recipe

Homemade Chunky Salsa or Pico de Gallo

We don’t really like to measure anything, so play around with this recipe and make it your own.

What you will need:

2 fresh tomatoes

1 onion

About 3 Tablespoons lime or lemon juice (your choice)

1 Tablespoon minced garlic (I use from a refrigerated bottle) You can also use garlic powder or fresh garlic, just adjust amounts to your taste

1 teaspoon dried oregano or 1 Tablespoon chopped fresh

1 teaspoon dried cilantro or 1 Tablespoon chopped fresh

Salt to taste (about 1 teaspoon)

Pepper to taste (about ½ teaspoon)

About ½ teaspoon cumin

Directions:

Chop the tomato and onion up into small pieces.  For every tomato you use, use about half an onion, or more or less depending on your taste. You can even use a food chopper for the onions if you’d like smaller pieces.

Add the lemon/lime juice.

Now just mix your spices in, to your taste.  Make it ahead of time so the flavors can really come out.
